Lessons learned from Thailand trip #2
1) When traveling with a baby, especially on a long flight like Thailand, call the airline months ahead of time, and request the bassinet seats. This was crucial. We didn't have to keep Aleah on our laps, in our arms, or on our body for hours. It allowed one of us to get much needed sleep.
2) United Airways is an inferior airline when compared to ANA from Japan and Thai airways out of Thailand. Customer service, food, and even the TP on the planes are better.
3) Having a taxi already waiting at the airport is very nice.
4) Thai people are crazy about babies. Many strangers touched ,gawked, and asked to pick up Aleah as we traveled around the country.
5) Many lines at the airport, we could cut lines because of the baby. This was quite nice.
6) Japanese Tokyo airport is great. Free wifi. Amazing family bathrooms. We used one family bathroom that felt like I was on the Jetsons.
7) Internet is cheap in Thailand. You can purchase an sd card for your phone and use their 3G network.
8) Do not go to the phi phi islands. It is a tourist trap. We went to 'maya beach' where "the beach" was filmed and I've never felt like such a sardine. The beach was just packed. The only solace I got was when I swam away from everyone. And had a little silence and could really take in the scene.
9) Hua Hin has a great beach but it is not made for snorkeling. Water clarity is like two feet.
10) It is very stressful traveling with a baby. The packing, lack of sleeping, extra worrying, has taking a small toll on me. Bring a car seat to thailand. The driving is nuts.
11) Thailand uses 220v plug ins. So, if you plug in something that is 110v it's probably going to short out. Consider yourself warned. Bring an adaptor.
12) We went during the month of March. Three weeks and I was ready to head back to the states. This was not the best season for fruit. Mangosteens were hard to find, expensive, and not super ripe. They had no ramputans.
13) The ripe pineapple and mango was divine. The lycée juice with chucks of lycée is really good. Iced coffee is the way to go. Swensons was great, as always.
