This coach does what good fathers and leaders do for their sons. The boy was crying and scared. He did not want to try. The boy didn't want to get in his fighting stance. The coach did not accept the boys emotions.
This is how fathers should raise their sons. Encourage him to be
true, set his sights at the good, the truthful, the beautiful, and then focus carefully on
the concerns of each moment. Encourage your son to do what is right, and to
strive to have his back while he is doing so. Falling and failing is the best way to grow
and learn. He must learn to get back up.
Teach boys courage,
composure, grit, determination
& focus. In a challenging moment, the task takes precedence. You will be
tempted to remove discomfort. No. This is how we grow. This
is how fathers parent. And it's beautiful.[5]
